FOX

FOX explores the relationship between humans and Chinese mythological creatures. A recurring question drives the work: why are these beings often cast as villains in classical and modern stories? Are they born evil, or shaped by human cruelty? I follow a fox spirit whose innocence turns into opposition after persecution.
The first half uses a Chinese shadow‑puppetry aesthetic, inspired by Lotte Reiniger's silhouette animation but with more ornate designs—making me feel like a puppeteer co‑creating her journey. I produced the full animation in Adobe Animate and Procreate Dreams, handled post‑production in After Effects, and completed editing and sound design in CapCut.
FOX visualizes how persecution can create an antagonist, inviting audiences to rethink mythic "monsters." It demonstrates my ability to merge cultural aesthetics with character‑driven storytelling and manage a full 2D pipeline from animation to sound.
