Public speaking anxiety is highly prevalent yet often misunderstood. This experimental 2D animation asks: how can animation portray its behaviours? Using a pure black‑and‑white line style and frame‑by‑frame technique, it aims to let those who have never experienced this anxiety truly “see” the distress and build empathy.
I created the animation frame by frame in Procreate, using visual metaphors, exaggerated distortion, and abstract expression to externalise internal chaos. My research combined personal experience, interviews with friends, and academic papers on public speaking anxiety.
The project delivers a complete 2D animation that transforms private anxiety into a shared visual language. It positions animation as a tool for emotional cognition, aiming to reduce prejudice and foster greater empathy.
